The Ultimate Castaway Cay Port Adventures
1. Disney’s Castaway Cay Cabana’s
Disney’s Castaway Cay Cabanas’ is a number one must-do when on the island. They are very expensive and hard to snag, but very worth it.
We, for example, have never had the pleasure of booking a cabana.
“Well, how can we recommend them then?” (You may be thinking or yelling out loud). Because I follow enough Disney adults who have shared their experiences.
So what’s the verdict, they’re amazing … If you can swing the price tag, do it. They are a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
The cabanas’ consist of a hut with a fridge, chairs, and an outdoor relaxation area. You also will get a very secluded beachfront. Plus much, much, more.
You are transported to the cabana by staff and have a cast member who will be able to help you with any needs you may have during your day in the cabana. Sounds like heaven, right?
How the heck do you get this magical cabana?
The best plan is to book a concierge’s room. These guests are able to request and book excursions far ahead of the other guests on board. They also get the assistance of a cast member booking for them.
But, what if that is not in your budget…
Don’t worry we haven’t made it there yet either.
The next suggestion is to join your specific cruise Facebook page. Often if members are going to let a cabana go they will post on this page to let others know. If the stars align you can snag that cabana before anyone else.
My final suggestion to grab a cabana is to head to guest relations once on board and request to be placed on a waitlist. Depending on how busy your cruise is, you may be able to grab one.
Don’t get discouraged if you don’t get a cabana, Castaway Cay has a plethora of other activites to keep you busy during your visit.
Now, on to the next adventure.
2. Disney’s Castaway Cay Waterpark
Yes, Disney has a water park on their private island… It’s Disney 🙄.
Pelican Plunge is an in-water play area that is a ton of fun for kids at least 38″ tall. This collection of platforms and waterslides is a great way for older kids to enjoy the family beach.
Please know that this is a deep play area and that kids will need to wear life jackets to play in this area.
Hey, guess what? The best part is… It’s free.
3. Small Price to Pay For Some Cycling Fun.
Another great port adventure to do on Castaway Cay is to rent a bike and ride the island. The whole Island is only about 3 miles long which makes for an easy ride.
You can rent a bike for around $15.00/ hour of ride time.
Our favorite place is to head to the observation tower. Here you can see the whole island and it is breathtaking.
Bike rentals are available for kiddos 3 years and up.
This adventure can be booked before your cruise and even at guest relations when you board.
4. The Most Known Port Adventure: Snorkeling at Castaway Cay.
You may have seen the snorkeling featured in the commercials for Disney Cruise line or even on their website. It’s a magical experience for Disney fans to be able to snorkel with Minnie and Mickey.
At the family beach, Disney has placed underwater treasures that are a ton of fun to find. For example, Dumbo, Prince Erik’s statue, and even a submarine can be found while snorkeling at Disney’s Castaway Cay.
Snorkeling is for kids 5 years and older. You can rent gear from Disney or bring your own. Check out these snorkels on Amazon. I have great reviews on these masks from family and friends. If you purchase I do receive a little commission from the sales 😘.
5. Complete Your RunDisney Dreams.
Only here on Castaway Cay can you complete a Castaway Cay 5K.
Early in the morning before they allow all of the passengers to come off the ship, Disney runs a special race.
How do you sign up for this 5K?
Once on board you can visit guest relations and sign up for the 5K. No pre-registration is needed prior to boarding your cruise.
Didn’t train for this run Disney event?
No worries, this is a “run at your own pace” race. Heck, walk if ya like. Younger kids are also able to join in on the fun.
When you complete the 5K you will get a cute rubber metal for your accomplishment. What a fun way to enjoy some exercise with the kiddos.
If you are a runDisney fan you can complete your land and sea challenge with this 5K.
